The Rata Foundation (formerly Canterbury Community Trust) was established in 1988 as a charitable trust, with the purpose of providing charitable, cultural, philanthropic and recreational benefits to the community.

The Trust serves Canterbury (North of the Rakaia River), the Nelson and Marlborough regions and the Chatham Islands.

NZ Lotteries Grants Board

The NZ Lottery Grants Board was set up by Parliament to benefit the community by distributing the profits from the games run by NZ Lotteries. The NZ Lottery Grants Board does this through a system of distribution agencies and distribution committees.

Funding generated by NZ Lotteries supports a huge variety of arts, cultural, sporting and community groups funded by the Lottery Grants Board and the other statutoy agencies that receive our profits; Creative NZ, Sport and Recreation NZ and the Film Commission, all working to make NZ a more vital and vibrant place, with stronger communities.

Pub Charity

As a Charitable Trust the focus of Pub Charity is on supporting communities all over New Zealand. We make a huge difference to a wide range of local causes each year by returning millions of dollars in gaming machine proceeds to New Zealand communities.

Big Brother Big Sisters of Nelson is now in its 16th year of providing mentoring friendships to children in need of additional adult support. Since the first ‘match’ in Nelson was made between an adult and a young person in 1998, the programme has grown steadily and now has more than 140 young people who are matched with a mentor each year.

Volunteer Nelson - Connecting people with their community

Volunteer Nelson offers a wide range of services to the Nelson Tasman community:

• Volunteer referral service – promotion and matching volunteers to opportunities in local not-for-profit groups and organisations.
• Support for volunteering – training, information, advice, events that celebrate volunteers.
• Strengthening community organisations – low cost training, confidential mentoring service for staff and board/committee members.
• Information sharing and networking – regular Community News and Views e-newsletters, events information, support for Community & Whanau network and meetings.

The Trusts Community Foundation

The Trusts Community Foundation - was established in June 2010. Our mission is to provide funding for a wide range of clubs, charities and community groups - in fields as diverse as sport, arts, culture, health and education. We are nationwide not-for-profit company. Our funds come from gaming machines operated in some Licensing Trusts, hotels and sports clubs around NZ.

The West Coast Community Trust

The West Coast Community Trust operates under the Community Trusts Act 1999. Its purpose is to manage its investments and apply the income from these investments by way of grants for charitable, cultural, philanthropic, recreational and other purposes in Buller, Grey and Westland.

So that grants reach as many people as possible, the Trust donates under six broad categories: Education, Welfare / Social, Health, Art & Culture, Sport & Recreation, Youth.

The Pelorus Trust

The Pelorus Trust is a charitable trust based in Lower Hutt which raises funds for charitable, philanthropic and sporting purposes through the operation of gaming machines. We are a mid-sized gaming trust operating machines from hotels and taverns between Auckland and Nelson/Marlborough.

Nelson Bays Primary Health is the Primary Health Organisation (PHO) for Nelson and Tasman.
