Tired of travelling in order to make the active choice the easy choice?
Look no further! Way2Go is a project aiming to increase the physical activity levels of the regions residents in their communities - with a focus on those who are aware they should be active but currently are not.

Nelson Way 2 Go Cluster
Four organisations are working together as the Nelson Way2Go Cluster, offering a range of physical and nutritional activity programmes in Nelson called ‘Making the active choice the easy choice’.Three organisations – Saxton Stadium, Tahunanui Community Centre and Victory Community Centre – deliver diverse programmes to their communities, while The Truck delivers to youth aged 11 to 18 years across the city. The organisations work to develop activities to meet the needs of these communities using staff, paid tutors and volunteers to deliver them.
Saxton Stadium is a regional sports facility that hosts a range of sports associations and has a wide variety of facilities. It offers Core N Floor, Super Circuit, Core Balance, Shape Up classes plus Walking & Social groups,Tai Chi Course, Badminton coaching and Futsal competitions. Tahunanui Community Centre offers walking, gardening and cycling sessions, women’s fitness classes and singing. They also have indoor netball and summer soccer teams and a community wide sports day ‘Stepping Out’ in the summer. The centre also provides Preschool and Playgroup services, a school holiday programme, family support and free counselling. Victory Community Centre offers a variety of fitness activities including Pilates, Yoga, Salsa Dance, Qi Gong, West African Dance, Sit and Be Fit and Zumba. It also runs Hand Craft, Housie, Get Cooking, Laughter Yoga Club sessions for Adult and Just Dance and Shoshin Kendo activities for children. There are Games Galore, Chess and Lark in the Park sessions in local parks as well as a swimming pool over summer for families. The centre also has an Outreach Health Nurse, Counselling Service, the Victory Community Garden, a range of health services and Playgroup. The Truck is a mobile service based from a large truck. Activities are themed Active: The Truck is loaded with sporting and other active equipment. Electronic Entertainment: This is a mobile entertainment facility which includes TV, Xbox, PS3 and Touch Screen computers with internet. Hang Out: This is open to all young people ages 11 to 18 years of age. The Truck has nail polish, speakers to plug your Ipod in to, and magazines to read. The Truck is currently operating from the Nelson Intermediate on Tuesdays, YMCA on Wednesdays, Stoke Youth on Thursdays, Broadgreen on Fridays, and Tahunanui Youth Park on Saturdays.
