Schools

The Sport Tasman Schools Team engages with the education sector from early childhood through to secondary school level.

We support early childhood centres and primary schools in fundamental movement skill development through the provision of training and resources for parents, teachers and caregivers and activity opportunities for children.

In secondary schools, we link with the local sports coordinators and sports codes to run over 20 events for students to participate in each year.  We also support the sports coordinators by facilitating regular group meetings and by providing training and resources.

A focus area for the Schools Team is ‘leadership’ – we have a programme supporting young students to develop the skills to become great leaders in the sporting community.

We aim to give all children and young adults access to sport and recreation in our region and the opportunity to develop the skills and confidence necessary to participate.
