Sport Tasman offers Leadership in Schools sessions for students and staff.  This programme enables students to learn what makes a good leader, using physical activity as a context for learning.  Sport Tasman has an amazing resource, the Activity Trailer - filled to the brim with fun equipment, which can be used to stir the students’ creative juices!  They will be asked to create new games using selected equipment then teach these to the rest of the class or junior school.

The class teacher's presence is vital to success as they will be able to continue the leadership programme in their school using resources Sport Tasman can offer e.g. Sport NZ (formerly SPARC) Growing Leaders, Fundamental Movement Skills and KiwiDex manual.

Students will become familiar with the different types of fundamental skills – locomotor, manipulative and stability.  The traditional Māori game, Ki O Rahi, will also be introduced to students as a challenging game (with a lot of history) that can help develop children’s fundamental and leadership skills.
