Thank you to our sponsor

What a Success!

Nearly 400 children turned up in running shorts and shoes and ran the 2km course with blistering enthusiasm and enjoyment!

Children aged from just a few months old accompanied or pushed in pushchairs by mums, dads and grandparents, to 12 years lined up on Brougham Street to take part in the run and experience the thrill of finishing an event through the Memorial Gates and the official Buller Marathon finishing chute!

Thank you to our sponsors:

  • Every child finishing the event received a certificate and medal sponsored by Holcim NZ.
  • The Buller Marathon Committee kindly donated a pair of running shoes to the first boy to cross the finish line - Louis Carmine (10 yrs).
  • Reynolds Shoes sponsored a pair of shoes for the first girl home - Jess Colman (12 yrs).

Sport Tasman would like to thank everyone who volunteered their help on the day, the Buller Marathon Committee, Reynolds Shoes and of course Holcim NZ for their continued support of this great children's event.

The Holcim Mini Marathon is becoming more popular every year and is fast becoming one of Westport's major family events that everyone can take part in and be very proud of. We can't wait to meet the challenge of next years Holcim Mini Marathon when we hope to reach 400 participants!

The Holcim Mini Marathon is run in conjunction with the Buller Gorge Marathon on the second Saturday each February.  The next event is on Saturday, 9 February 2013.

So see you there, at the Square, in 2013!
